Free Viewer, editor, software & plugins: software stuff I've tried & use the most....
Irfanview
I use this the most for viewing-free and useful, many photoshop plugins are compatible...be sure to download their set of plugins they have on their homepage, too...recognizes raw but after editing & saving, does not save data info...
Microsoft Ice
like panoramas? Simple, easy to use program!
*ViewNX2
I like this little program it's a Nikon product and free. It does a really quick job editing your raw files, as well as ability to input your exif, camera shooting info, and coyright info, can use default settings or make your own statement. Will edit jpg's but with less options than raw.
Paint.net
I use for cloning mostly but has some pretty cool features as well...does not recognize raw files
Photoscape
Great little program if your not into the heavy editing, you can make gifs, pages...fun to use...also a viewer.
Virtual Photographer by OpticVerve
Can be used as a standalone or a plugin-compatible with Irfanview...has copyright applications...
Xero Graphics
free plugins, I use Tweaker alot-compatible with Irfanview...
Filter Forge
free photoshop plugins-compatible with Irfanview...I use the Free pack 2-Photo Effects for grunge, lomo, old photo...if you like a film style and don't want to do it by layers and so on and so on...this is for you!
Zoner
Programs and plugins-Trial versions & bought: You won't know if you like unless you tried the trials.
*Corel-PSP Ultimate X4-a new version is now available PSP 5-needed to buy a software with good cloning and healing brush. This was cheap at the time and was bundled with NIK's Pro 3 plugins, which I adore. Haven't yet figured how to use the remove unwanted objects but learned cloning really well....
*Adobe-PSE 9-A new version is available PSE 11. I switch back and forth with PSP4. I try to avoid using Camera Raw in either, only because am impatient.
Capture NX
this came with my camera when I bought it last year...Otherwise I'm not sure I would have it...When I browse with Irfanview and want to keep the data-I open this program up and save...
Topaz Adjust by Topaz Labs
Pretty handy plugin. I was impressed with trial and did buy...they offer several other programs alone or in bundles...compatible with Irfanview.
UMark Pro by Uconomix
Watermarking that I tried and bought. Easy to use...nothing to fancy, inexpensive...batch watermark and singly, with you personalzing your fonts size, placement, opacity, transparency, etc...
Color Efex Pro by Nik software
I have really enjoyed the trial plugins of this software. Easy enough to use-compatible with Irfanview
